Our paper pregnancy has started out with just that....Paperwork! Who would have thought that filling out a three ring binder full of personal information and formal paperwork would be so exciting! We just about have everything filled out, packed up, and ready to take to our caseworker. Once we have our physicals done next week, and our letter from our insurance company saying our baby will be fully covered upon placement, then we will be all set.
Another exciting thing happening tomorrow is our photo shoot. Our sister-in-law will be doing the shoot for our profile that will be shown to the Gladney birth mothers. We can't wait to have some new pictures of us to share, however, we are more excited to spend the afternoon with our adorable nephew and nieces.
One thing that we are searching for, if anybody has any recommendations, is a videographer. We would love to connect with someone who is interested in shooting a couple of short videos, nothing fancy, so that we will have lifelong memories of our unique experience. We would love to have a video of the first time we get to meet our little gift from God. Even though, our baby isn't growing in Jill's tummy, he/she grows everyday in our hearts. We want to document our paper pregnancy to share with our baby one day, so that he/she knows that not only were they planned, they were part of Gods plan and created especially for us.
We haven't had the opportunity to thank everyone for being so supportive. We have struggled with our infertility alone, and kept everyone in the dark. Then after our exciting acceptance into the Gladney Center we waited nearly two months, until after our orientation, to share our story. After our initial announcement of the good news our phones crashed from all the texts and calls we received at once. Everyone has had such a genuine happiness for us. We have had old friends reach out to us wanting to join us every step of the way. We have also received emails from complete strangers wanting to help with fundraisers or anything else we need. Every text or email that we get is seen as just another sign from God telling us we are finally on the right path.
So a HUGE thanks to all of you for all of the love and eagerness to help fill our dream of becoming parents.
We are your typical high school sweethearts, and have been together more than 12 years. Our struggle to become parents has been a long road. It has been truly amazing watching Gods plan unfold right in front of our eyes. Follow us on this journey to see how He fills our empty nursery and open hearts with the baby He has already picked to be ours.
What is a paper pregnancy? Confused but happy for you both.
ReplyDeletePebz, Thanks for asking about paper pregnancy. Paper pregnancy is a term used in the adoption community. In every sense, except physically, we are going through a pregnancy. We are just as excited, and a little nervous, as any first time parents. We simply just have documents saying our baby is on the way instead of a growing belly.
DeleteIf you're still looking for a videographer, I'd recommend Candlelight Films. I believe their focus is weddings, but they've also worked on A Baby Story. They do amazing work!
