Reference Letters

14 November 2013

When we sat down last week with our newest caseworker, Sue, we were going through all of our paperwork. She gave us a short list of a few things that we still needed to submit. One of the things on the list was our reference letters. After talking with her she informed us that even though we are only required to have 5 (including only one from a relative) that we can submit as many as we would like.

We know that we already have people working on their reference letters, but this gave Jill a light bulb moment. We wanted to give anyone that would like to put their two cents in, the opportunity to do so. Though your letter may not be "needed" if you would like to add your personal reference to our adoption file it would mean the world to us! Not only will you be included in our Gladney file, but we will be making copies to add them to our baby book, as well.

Below we will list the questions that Gladney gave us to pass along to our reference writers. Feel free to answer these questions, or put your own personal twist on it!!

Name:
Address:
Telephone:
Date:

What is your relationship to applicants?:

How long have you known the applicants?:

How would you describe the character of the applicants individually?:

How would you describe their marriage?:

What assets do you feel the applicants have which will make them good parents?:

Have you observed the applicants with children?:

If you have children, have you ever left them/would you ever leave the in the care of the above named family? Why or why not?:

Are you aware of any alcohol or illegal drug abuse these applicants have been involved in that would impact their ability to care for children?:

Is there any reason you might hesitate to provide a positive reference for this family?:

Do you have any concerns that you feel would be helpful for us to know in working with this family?

If you would like to write a reference for our hopeful family, please mail or email us your letter. We look forward to hearing your personal thoughts! Thank you all so much for your support!
